Mark A. Hackel
Macomb County Sheriff
Mark
A. Hackel began his career with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office in 1981
as a dispatcher.
Through the years, he worked his way up through every rank and was elected
to Sheriff in November of 2000.
Mark obtained his Associate Degree from
Macomb Community College,
a Bachelor of Arts Degree from
Wayne State University-Criminal
Justice and a Master Degree in Public Administration from
Central Michigan University.
Mark also attended the
F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, as well as the United
States Secret Service Dignitary Protection School in Washington D.C.
Mark has also had the opportunity to observe law enforcement overseas. He
has participated in exchange programs with the
Jewish
Institute for National Security Affairs in Israel,
London Police
Force, and flew to
Lviv and
Kiev,
Ukraine, to educate their people on the system of law enforcement in the
United States.
Along with being the Sheriff of the State’s third largest county, Mark is
also a professor at Macomb
Community College and
ITT – Technical Institute in Troy.
On his free time, Mark enjoys working out, playing basketball and is an avid
runner. He was born and raised in Warren and is now residing in Macomb
Township.
